Sole Representative Visa Closed to New Applicants

The Home Office has confirmed that effective from 9:00 am on 11 April 2022 that the Sole Representative Visa route will be closed for new applications.


Dependent Partner (Spouse) and children under 18, can still apply to join applicants with a representative of an overseas business leave (Visa) in the UK.

A business plan is required for applications for UK Sole Representative, Startup and Innovator Visa.

Sole Representative Visa for United Kingdom

Eligibility

  • be recruited and employed outside the UK by a company whose headquarters and principal place of business are outside the UK
  • have extensive related industry experience and knowledge
  • hold a senior position within the company (but not be a major shareholder) and have full authority to make decisions on its behalf
  • intend to establish the company’s first commercial presence in the UK, eg a registered branch or a wholly-owned subsidiary
  • sufficient resources to support yourself without help from public funds
  • meet the Basic English Language requirement by passing an exam at CFER Level A1 in Speaking and Listening.


Required Documents

 The documents required for the sole representative visa are:

  • Current passport and/or other travel documents 
  • Financial and Legal documents from Parent Company
  • Proof of maintenance funds for themselves and any family members 
  • Details of where they will be living in the UK 
  • Proof that they meet the English language requirement detailed above 
  • Clear tuberculosis (TB) test result letter, if the applicant is from one of the countries on the Home Office's TB testing list.
  • Must produce Business Plan


What about the spouse/children of the Sole Representative?

Spouse and children under 18 accompany the main applicant as their dependents.

  • Schooling
    The children of persons entering the UK as sole representatives are entitled to the same free schooling as British children. The candidate may choose to send their children to a private school if they wish to.
  • Health care
    A sole representative and their family are eligible to free health care provided by the National Health Service (NHS). They are not required to take out private health insurance.
  • Work
    The spouse of a sole representative is entitled to take up any employment.

 


What will be the restrictions with this visa?  

The holder of Sole Representative:

  • cannot work at another business
  • cannot stay in the UK if their parent company terminates hir/her employment 
  • cannot switch to any other visa category
  • cannot receive public funds
